c. Metro Vancouver’s new draft Clean Air Plan

Support for targets

The Clean Air Plan is Metro Vancouver’s air quality and greenhouse gas management plan. Actions in the Plan will reduce air contaminant emissions and impacts, including greenhouse gases, over the next 10 years, and in doing so support the 30-year commitment to a carbon neutral region by 2050. This management plan also helps to improve air quality for the region, and to protect human health and the environment.

The Clean Air Plan contains three targets:

  1. Reduce regional greenhouse gas emissions by 45% from 2010 levels.
  2. Ambient air quality in the region meets or is better than health-based ambient air quality objectives and standards set by Metro Vancouver, the BC Government and Government of Canada.
  3. Increase the amount of time that visual air quality is classified as excellent.
Q2. Do you have comments on any or all of these targets? *

Your thoughts on specific topics

There are over 130 actions in the Clean Air Plan. We are interested in learning if there are particular actions that you think are very important – that is you support and think should be prioritized in implementation of the plan – and if there are particular actions that you are less supportive of or that generate concern for you.

Q3. Do you support or want to share your concern for specific content in the plan?

  • Examples of support might be: alignment, already doing this, have been anticipating this, want to implement this today, go further.
  • Examples of concerns might be: required investments, costs or associated fees, and expectations on others.

We are interested in your input and opinion.
